The Emergency’s Festive TV Highlights!

There’s a feast of festive viewing coming your way this Xmas, and the bumper two week edition of The Emergency TV Guide is there to help you plan your yuletide telly schedule
Morecuts & Unwise Christmas Special(Christmas Day RTE1)

Biggest hitter for Xmas day viewing has got to be the Morecuts & Unwise Christmas Special – packed with more wheezes than an A&E waiting room, you’ll be rolling on the floor at their new “This Is The Only Show In Town” routine – Brian will be taunting Brian over his ‘short, fat, hairy leadership’, and of course the boys will delight audiences with their trademark running away slapping the back of their necks while singing “Bring Me Revenue” finale (Christmas Day RTE1)

HRH Queen Elizabeth II cutting a rug (TG4 Christmas Day)

TG4 is taking a break from tradition by broadcasting the Queen’s Speech as Gaeilige at the later time of 3.15, not 3pm as usual (Dec 25th TG4)

John Gormley ‘Its A Wonderful Lie’ (RTE 2 Christmas Eve)

There’s plenty of classic Christmas movies to choose from as well with RTE 2 screening It’s A Wonderful Lie – the timeless story of well intentioned small time school teacher John Gormley who with the help of his guardian angel Boyler discovers that the world would be a much different place if he had never been born, but still decides to go back and convince his party membership to vote in favour of NAMA and backing up the crooks who run his town anyway (Christmas Eve 7pm)

Enda Kenny – Magical – (TV3 Stephen’s Day)

While over on TV3 the seasonal movie is Wonky Enda and The Bullshit Factory, in which an unloved little boy (former PD leader Ciaran Cannon) is taken under the wing of a magical buffoon who makes all kind of wonderful statements about reform of the Seanad, policing and the economy, none of which will ever come true.

This year Shrek 1, 2 and 3 will be on RTE 2 at 11am on St Stephen’s Day; at noon on UTV and at 12.15 on BBC1. As a result of the recent budget, The Great Escape will now run to just 15 minutes in duration on all channels, ending just after the POWs arrive at the prison camp.
