Terry Prone Writes Impartially On The Brave New World

Unbiased journalistic paragon and 9 time winner of the Pulitzer Award Terry Prone writes exclusively today for The Emergency…..

Do you know what? When I first met Herman van Rompuy , the new EU President, all those years ago in Brechtesgärten I never noticed his smile. Many other things I did notice (but thats for another column…)

You couldn’t miss that smile today though Schoolchildren played and danced in unseasonal warmth, old people turned their careworn faces to the sun and the jobless ran carefree into newly opened factories this morning as the recovery promised by ratification of the Lisbon Treaty came into effect.

“It’s the sheer volume of jobs and trade that I can’t get over” said one unspecifed man to me earlier over a blini with caviare at a newly opened chain of street corner blini stands – a symbol of our newly recovered capital city.

Oh sure, last week all the begrudgers and ‘Moanie Malcolms’ had plenty to say about poor Brian Cowen and co. That was then. When they were down -but now, where are the yeasayers? Nowhere because that’s just not the Irish way. Fianna Fail won’t get the thanks they so richly deserve for holding steady on their course. No. That will have to wait until NAMA pays off big. For. Us. All.
