Ryanair Flights To Space Expected By 2011

As Richard Branson prepares to unveil the prototype for the first commercial Spacecraft, Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary has confirmed that Ryanair too will enter the space flight market with a budget offering shortly after Virgin Galactic’s projected maiden flight in 2011.

An artists impression of the Ryanair protype is below. It will carry up to 1400 passengers and will go one better than the Virgin deal by actually landing people in space. Virgin Galactic will bring passengers paying around $200,000 into space but will then land them in a regular Earth destination. Ryanair is proposing a much cheaper $10,000 tariff and additionally will guarantee to deposit the passengers in *space itself.

*(Subject to identifying a landing point in space – may involve disembarking at Cork and bussing it)
