Israeli Ambassador Pulls Out Of Meeting

Israeli ambassador to Ireland Dr Zion Evrony

Israel’s ambassador to Ireland Dr Zion Evrony has bravely pulled out of a planned appearance at an Oireachtas committee to answer questions about his country’s attack on a humanitarian aid ship.

Dr Zion Evrony today cited “unforeseen circumstances” for his decision which has nothing to do with calls to expel a security official from his embassy in relation to the recent theft and forgery of Irish passports which were used in a political assasination un Dubai.

The ambassador dismissed claims that he was deliberately avoiding a carpetting: “I’m Israeli – I would never run from an argument I couldn’t win without heavily armed thugs backing me up” he told reporters who were cowering behind bullet proof shields just in case. Dr Evrony also said that Israelis really don’t like conflict. He then pointed his finger at the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee saying that they were oppressing him and were armed to the teeth with very sharp biros and some pointy shoes.

Committee chairman Michael Woods described the ambassador’s “eleventh hour volte-face” as “most disappointing – we had hoped to see him smirk his way through questioning before telling us how happy and well cared for the residents of Gaza are before we ourselves would do absolutely nothing to censure him. Now that opportunity for the members of this committee to get paid for attending us gone. It’s a real humanitarian tragedy”.
